The research entitled Social Penetration of New Teachers and Siwa SLB Karya Mulia
Surabaya aims to provide an overview of the personal experience of interpersonal
communication between a teacher and a new student in improving how the closeness of a
relationship develops between one another. Social penetration is a communication theory that
is related to the formation of relationships or relationships when individuals move from
superficial communication to more intimate communication, meaning that when we cannot be
directly close to people, there must be stages that must be passed. Communication itself is a
process of conveying information to individuals or audiences. This study uses a qualitative
approach with an interpretive paradigm. This study aims to determine the process and stages
of social penetration for new teachers and students at SLB Karya Mulia Surabaya. This
research approach uses the Phenomenological Method. Data collection techniques in this
study used observation, interviews and documentation techniques. This type of research uses
triangulation of data sources, namely data collection techniques that combine various
existing data and sources.
