ANALISIS RESEPSI MAHASISWA ILMU KOMUNIKASI UNIVERSITAS 17 AGUSTUS 1945 SURABAYA PADA KORBAN KEKERASAN SEKSUAL DALAM FILM PENYALIN CAHAYA

Abstrak

This research examines the audience's interpretation of sexual violence in the film
Photocopier. This study used a qualitative method with an interpretive paradigm and Stuart
Hall's reception analysis theory approach, namely encoding-decoding. The film Photocopier
with the mystery trailer genre was released on October 8, 2021. The film, which has a
duration of 2 hours and 10 minutes, was directed by Wregas Bhanuteja and Shenina
Cinnamon in the main roles. This film is considered educational, has a wide range of realism
and great popularity. The author chose UNTAG Surabaya Communications Students as
respondents or active audiences who interpret the contents of media messages in the form of
scenes of sexual violence in the film Photocopier. The results of in-depth interviews with
research informants resulted in an explanation of the meaning of violence based on the
personal opinions of the informants. There are informants who think that the film
Photocopier contains many moral messages and life lessons that can be learned, while on the
other hand there are those who negotiate the role of victims of sexual violence
