STUDI DESKRIPTIF KOMUNIKASI INTERPERSONAL PADA PENYANDANG MENTAL HEALTH ANXIETY DISORDER DI POLI PSIKIATRI PUSURA SURABAYA

Communication is a complex process that involves behavior and allows individuals to relate
to others. Communication is also an important thing that is the main human need.
Interpersonal communication is essentially a form of personal communication. Interpersonal
communication also describes face-to-face communication between people, which allows
each participant to capture the reactions of others directly, both verbally and nonverbally. In
this research, the authors try to describe the communication between individuals that occurs
in people with mental health anxiety disorder at the Pusura Psychiatric Polyclinic in
Surabaya. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive
research type. Data collection techniques used through interviews and observation. Data
analysis uses data reduction, data presentation, and draws conclusions. This research is
reviewed from the theory of cognitive dissonance, the theory used in this study is the theory of
cognitive dissonance by Festinger. The subject of this study was Pusura Surabaya Psychiatric
Polyclinic. The object of this research is people with metal health anxiety disorder. The
results of this study indicate that there is interpersonal communication that exists between
psychiatrists and people with mental health, namely cognitive dissonance that occurs in these
patients which is manifested in anxiety in people with mental health anxiety disorder. This
anxiety includes lack of self-confidence, fear, difficulty in focusing, and self-doubt. As a result
of the behavior on anxiety that occurred by some informants, there was communication
within themselves such as forms of anger and emotional reactions to oneself which made this
an obstacle in communication and was afraid to communicate with the environment outside
of themselves.
