ABSTRACT
The high potential of Indonesia's abundant seas is utilized by the community as a source of income. Marine resources, especially fisheries, provide a very large contribution and impact on Indonesia's income. The East Java Province DKP in 2023, the amount of capture fisheries production reached 590,685.85 tons and the third highest in Indonesia. This figure was generated by fishermen's catches based on daily logbook statistical data owned by fishermen. This is related to Law 45 of 2009 Article 46 Paragraph 1 that 'The central government and regional governments compile and develop a fisheries information and statistical data system and organize the collection, processing, analysis, storage, presentation, and dissemination of potential data, updating of fish movement data, facilities and infrastructure, production, handling, processing and marketing of fish, as well as socio-economic data related to the implementation of fish resource management and the development of a fisheries business system'. This community service aims to find out and evaluate policies related to the statistical data collection of fisheries production at the East Java Province DKP. The method used by the author to facilitate the implementation of internship activities at the East Java Province DKP, through four stages, namely; first preparation, work practice, documentation, and finally service report. The existence of data collection or statistical data on capture fisheries provides benefits in several parts, especially in innovation and decision making.
