Abstract

The research discusses the problem of human trafficking in the tourism sector and the role the tourism industry in dealing with human trafficking. The government's efforts in providing legal protection assistance to victims of trafficking include providing compensation and restitution, service and counseling or medical support, providing information and legal assistance by ensuring respect for the authority of migrant workers who are victims of trafficking, similar to the authority for rehabilitation and confidentially of identity. This research uses a normative juridical legal research analysis method to collect data and analyze this issue. The results show that human trafficking is a modern slavery practice that degrades human dignity. The large number of human trafficking cases in Indonesia has caused concern within the country itself. The various cases of human trafficking that have been occurring lately, according to electronic and print media information as well as a number of analytical results, prove that human trafficking, especially involving children and women, needs to be taken seriously. The research also revealed The tourism industry is considered one of the world's fastest-growing economic activities and the largest employer, generating millions of employment opportunities. As tourism is a dense industry, there is an increasing demand for labor in various tourism sectors.
