Abstract

The purpose of this research is to answer some of the community's questions about issues or plans to change the tenure of the village head from 6 years 3 periods to 9 years 2 periods. This research method uses normative juridical legal research with literature study and by reading legislation as a reference. The results of this study contain answers about the impact on changing the tenure of the village head if realized. Recently, the plan to change the tenure of the village head has become a very interesting topic discussed by all levels of society. To revise the Law on Villages, the Government must pay attention to all aspects, be it economic, social, political aspects, and also consider the potential for corruption by village heads with long term positions. The position of the Village Government is recognized by the State and the Village Head has the right to manage the Village autonomously, in a village there is a village head and his apparatus who have the right to regulate Village Administration. As a person elected by the village community in a democratic way, which means that all village people are entitled and free to choose and make their own choices. In the village head election, the village head election implementation committee is an elected person who has previously held deliberations between the BPD, the village head and other village officials. Each citizen has the right to elect a candidate for leadership as long as the term of office is valid, namely 6 years for 1 period and can be re-elected for the next 2 periods.
