Abstract

The nasional commission on violence against women is an independen state institution for the enforcement of women’s human right in Indoensia. The women’s national commission was born from civil society, to the government to realize the state’s responsibility in dealing with issues of violence against women. The women’s national commission becomes a national human right institution that functions in developing and strengthening human right mechanisms in form of elimination violence against women at the local, national and International levels. However, the existence of a women’s national commission still has weaknesses in handling it properly and paying attention to it and does not show the characteristic of an effective human right institution . it is necessary to improve and strengthen the protection of human right in Indonesia, especially women’s right. The government needs to strengthen the national women’s commission as an independent instition to uphold women’s human right in Indonesia, by strengthening its law with a special law.
