Representasi Manaisme Dalam Film “The Medium” (Analisis Semiotika Roland Barthes)

Abstract

At first, semiotic analysis was only the study of science used to examine literary texts and works, but semiotics began to develop so that many things could be analyzed, one of which was film. By using Roland Barthes' semiotics, a new signification was found, namely "myth". This study uses qualitative research methods with descriptive analysis with the aim of representing the meaning of manaism in the Thai horror film entitled "The Medium". The topic of this research is to examine the scenes in the film "The Medium" by identifying the meaning of denotation, connotation, and myths that exist in these scenes, a result is found, namely the meaning of the representation of manaism in the film, so it is hoped that with using this semiotic analysis there is no misinterpretation when watching the film "The Medium".
