This study aims to provide an overview of the impression management carried out by the
Surabaya City Communication and Information Office on the Instagram Bangga Surabaya
platform in forming an image as a medium of information. The theory used in this research is
impression management theory using five typologies according to Edward Jones. This study
used descriptive qualitative method. The data obtained were sourced from interviews,
observations, and photo data collection in the form of published documents. The object of this
research is the Department of Communication and Informatics section of Information and
Public Communication and Statistics of the City of Surabaya. This study describes how the
impression management in the Bangga surabaya Instagram platform is carried out by the
Dinkominfo of the City of Surabaya. The results of this study show that the impression
management efforts of the Dinkominfo Surabaya on the Instagram platform Bangga Surabaya
in forming an image as a medium of information have found that by organizing festivals and
helping UMKM namely ingratiation typology, self promotion by showing achievements and
showing innovations, exemplification is shown by disseminating information about PMK
disease, and intimidation is aimed at conveying information on the response of the Surabaya
City Government in handling accidents at Kenpark Surabaya in forming an image.
