Abstract

Community empowerment is a strategic effort to optimize community participation in development in underdeveloped areas. This activity is carried out by developing the potential of rural communities by considering various aspects, constraints, and challenges. This study aims to identify and describe the role of the Social Service in empowering the poor as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors in Sidoarjo. The method used is qualitative data analysis techniques. Data collection techniques used include observation, interviews (interviews), literature study, and documentation. The purpose of this research is to find out how the role of the Social Service and Community and Village Empowerment in empowering people in Sidoarjo. The research method used in this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Selection of informants using purposive sampling and snowball sampling techniques. Collecting data used in this study using interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis method used in this study is an interactive analysis method. The results of this study indicate that the role of the Social Service of Sidoarjo Regency in community empowerment has been carried out quite well. This is evidenced by the running of the aspects studied, although there are still many shortcomings.
