GERAKAN SOSIAL UNTUK MENDAPATKAN KEADILAN LINGKUNGAN BAGI MASYARAKAT DAYAK TOMUN DESA LAMAN KINIPAN KALIMANTAN TENGAH
Abstract
Climate Change and Forestry are inseparable problems because they actually influence each other. A good forest will be able to withstand the rate of climate change, and vice versa. Indonesia's rapid forest destruction requires a coping approach. This study aims to determine the effects of deforestation on Dayak customary forests and as a response from social movements to obtain environmental justice. Using the social law research method, it was found that the Dayak customary law communities in Laman Kinipan village suffered losses due to forest and environmental damage, financial obligations according to permits or contractual relationships were not able to eliminate the weaknesses of indigenous peoples in protecting the wealth and preservation of collective forests. Expanding the meaning of loss of customary law communities by considering the basis for calculating the reduction or loss of environmental value is an option to avoid the burden on indigenous peoples due to the expansion of exploitation of forest areas. This condition has led to a response from indigenous peoples in the form of a movement to reject all forms of weakening of indigenous peoples to their forests. This response became a systematic movement supported by community social institutions related to environmental and customary issues. A movement that on the one hand will defend the rights of indigenous peoples and on the other hand is in line with efforts to curb the pace of climate change. However, this movement still encountered obstacles in maintaining it.
